Online Safety

Online Safety

 Social Media and Internet Safety

At Sithney CP School we recognise the important benefits that the online world and internet bring to becoming world citizens.

As part of their education, we teach our pupils how to remain safe online and how to use technology both appropriately and effectively. We foster a school community that is well informed about how to protect itself online whilst promoting the responsible use of technology. This an essential element of becoming a respectful communicator, whether online or offline.

Online safety is taught progressively from Reception right through to Year 6 as part of the Computing curriculum. Using the internet safely is repeatedly referred to through our cross curricular learning, whenever we access technology to further our understanding of the world around us. There are strong links to the PSHE curriculum and the wider school community are engaged through regular access to online safety updates / newsletters and participation in national Safer Internet Days.

Our online safety and acceptable use policies are robust, regularly reviewed and updated and are reflective of the best practice advised by Ofsted, CEOP and the Internet Safety Council.

On this page you will find a number of resources which will hopefully allow parents and pupils to make informed choices when communicating online.
